The hare holds a special place in Irish folklore. They are known for their solitary and nocturnal behaviour and they are classified as a protected species in Ireland. This hare looks at us directly with a quizzical stare. He’s been sitting down for a while but maybe he’s about to take off ….sharpish. He differs from the Rough Irish Hare which is altogether a much more casual and scruffy individual.
